Liz and Corentin Lamour have diversified their farm in Brittany, northwest France, by transforming some of the cottages and barns on site into unique holiday accommodation for people who want to escape to the country for a while. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of styling and writing about many of their projects for editorial features, but this inspiring little cottage was the first…Keep reading
As soon as I saw Pam Weinstock’s bold and photographic designs on social media I knew they’d be perfect as props for a house I was styling for a magazine photoshoot, so I arranged to pop over to meet Pam at her London home, and see her work for myself – and of course to borrow a few cushions for the shoot…Keep reading
When I arranged to shoot this striking London home with photographer Rob Sanderson, I was thrilled that the homeowner, vintage dealer Tamara Broido, was totally up for an autumnal shoot so that I could arrive armed with boxes and boxes of majestic pumpkins and gourds, and some vibrant textiles that would encapsulate this incredible time of year…Keep reading
For this shoot I travelled to Brittany, western France, again, this time with photographer Brent Darby, to meet a Belgian couple who’d given up their home country to follow their dream of opening a B&B that offers gastronomy lessons celebrating the freshest flavours from land and sea…Keep reading
I was over the moon when my insta-pal Sally Hurman, of Getting Stuff Done in Heels fame, introduced me to Lulu, an interior designer with a mission for making homes beautiful but liveable and homely, as well as adaptable to the changes in our family lives. Lulu is warm, thoughtful and enthusiastic, and I knew we’d get along very well indeed, so I was thrilled when she invited me and my photographer Rob Sanderson to shoot her elegant home hidden in the West Sussex countryside…Keep reading
Anyone who knows me knows I love homes full of treasures, and when I turn up to style a shoot, I love to carefully arrange the homeowner’s finds to create beautiful images with the photographer. Lisa Piddington had enough car-boot collections for two or three shoots, but I chose to display her more colourful items in our shots, and allow all those fabulous florals to blossom…
As I’m a writer as well as a stylist, I’m usually found hibernating in my home office for the first few weeks of the year, writing up some of my commissions from the previous year. So when one of my contacts in France got in touch and asked if I wanted to revisit her for a few days in January/February to photograph some more old barns she’d converted, at first I thought, “but I don’t do that”. Then after about 3 seconds I thought, “why not??” and got to work packing up my props basket with objects borrowed from some of the talented craftspeople I’ve discovered over the years…Keep reading
finding beauty everywhere
As an interiors writer and stylist specialising in real home features for interiors magazines, I get to travel all over Europe to style people's homes, so on this blog I'm going to be sharing some of the lovely homes I visit, as well as the locations that I end up in.
I'm also passionate about good food, nature, art, urban design and architecture so there'll be the odd smattering of posts that relate to what I get up to on my days off, whether on my own or with my family, Mr Jones and Lillie-Mae, and Daisy pup.
I hope you enjoy it,
