top of the props

I posted a picture on Twitter and Instagram last week showing some of the props I was gathering for my upcoming Christmas shoots; it was pretty popular and got some lovely comments so I thought I’d do a blog post to show you more of what items I have in my props box right now…

As well as helping small businesses, artists and designers promote their work through a feature on their own home, I also like to include their handmade items, prints of their artwork, or beautiful products in photos of other people’s homes I style. I also invite makers whose work I love to send me some of their pieces for my props box, even if their own home isn’t quite ready for a photo shoot.

I will use these wonderful items in homes where they sit naturally – I won’t shoehorn anything into the wrong location just to get it seen, it has to blend with the homeowner’s style. After I’ve used them a few times, I will usually return them, although some makers have offered for me to hang on to their pieces indefinitely, which I am more than happy to do.

Here’s a selection of some of my current acquisitions that I hope you will like; perhaps it might inspire you to buy some gorgeous gifts for someone special this Christmas, or even treat yourself to a little something…

enter site If you are a maker and would like to send me some of your pieces for my props box, please do get in touch; and if you have a lovely home and would like to discuss a photo shoot for an interiors magazine to help promote your work, I’d love to hear from you. naomi jones

Hi, I’m naomi jones, a freelance interiors writer and stylist, and mum to Lillie-Mae. For many years I was the features editor at Period Living, but after spending a year with my daughter after she was born in 2011, I figured a freelance life would allow me to be with her as much as possible while giving me the freedom to keep up with my passion for styling and writing about people’s homes.

finding beauty everywhere

As an interiors writer and stylist specialising in real home features for interiors magazines, I get to travel all over Europe to style people's homes, so on this blog I'm going to be sharing some of the lovely homes I visit, as well as the locations that I end up in.

I'm also passionate about good food, nature, art, urban design and architecture so there'll be the odd smattering of posts that relate to what I get up to on my days off, whether on my own or with my family, Mr Jones and Lillie-Mae, and Daisy pup.

I hope you enjoy it,

naomi x
