easy elegance

on location

I was over the moon when my insta-pal Sally Hurman, of Getting Stuff Done in Heels fame, introduced me to Lulu, a skilful interior designer with a mission for making homes beautiful but liveable and homely, as well as adaptable to the changes in our family lives. Lulu is warm, thoughtful and enthusiastic, and I knew we’d get along very well indeed, so I was thrilled when she invited me and my photographer Rob Sanderson to shoot her elegant home hidden in the West Sussex countryside…

No extra props were required here, as Lulu had it all ready for me to play with, including a huge, well-stocked garden for those beautiful floral displays. Here are a few behind the scenes sneak peeks of our day taken by me (you’ll have to wait a little while to see our proper shots, captured beautifully, as always, by Rob)…

I had fun arranging these gorgeous velvet cushions that provide pops of colour in a warm grey scheme…

Here’s a before shot: the bathroom was very atmospheric so only needed a quick tidy and minimal props

We just had to photograph one of the daughters’ bedrooms: a pink upholstered bed and fab wallpaper? Yes, please!

The huge kitchen/diner was a visual treat from every angle

More gorgeous blooms from the garden, this time artfully arranged in a cute rack of mini bottles

The understated colour scheme gives this room a really calm feel, and would work with any colour accessories so Lulu can change the look very easily

Last shot of the day, and quite possibly my favourite. I do love benches, and who can resist a sheepie?!

If you’d like to have your home photographed for an interiors magazine, please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Hi, I’m naomi jones, a freelance interiors writer and stylist, and mum to Lillie-Mae. For many years I was the features editor at Period Living, but after spending a year with my daughter after she was born in 2011, I figured a freelance life would allow me to be with her as much as possible while giving me the freedom to keep up with my passion for styling and writing about people’s homes.

finding beauty everywhere

As an interiors writer and stylist specialising in real home features for interiors magazines, I get to travel all over Europe to style people's homes, so on this blog I'm going to be sharing some of the lovely homes I visit, as well as the locations that I end up in.

I'm also passionate about good food, nature, art, urban design and architecture so there'll be the odd smattering of posts that relate to what I get up to on my days off, whether on my own or with my family, Mr Jones and Lillie-Mae, and Daisy pup.

I hope you enjoy it,

naomi x
